For more than 16 years, Bergelectric has empowered CHOC, part of Rady Children’s Health, as they help bring spaces to life at our Orange campus, where children can heal and families can find hope. What began in 2008 with Design Assist services and the construction of the Bill Holmes Tower, has grown into a meaningful, multi-project partnership spanning major builds, renovations, and now the new nine-story outpatient Southwest Tower. Along the way, members of the Bergelectric family have experienced CHOC’s care firsthand, deepening the company’s commitment to advancing children’s health and well-being.
That commitment shines in Bergelectric’s culture of giving. The company’s enthusiastic participation in the CHOC Walk in the Park at Disneyland® Resort; our annual, month-long CHOCstruction fundraising campaign; and its local Cornhole Fundraising Tournament all reflects a team that is willing to show up for kids in every possible way.
As we celebrate our longstanding partnership, we’re reminded that the heart of this important work lies in the individuals who carry our mission forward each day. One of those individuals is Bergelectric’s executive assistant, Janet Garcia, whose dedication and compassion play a meaningful role in bringing this partnership to life behind the scenes.
In this Q&A, we learn more about what inspires Janet’s support, discover how our work with Bergelectric is helping build brighter, healthier futures, and even gain fun insight into some of Janet’s favorite things.
Can you describe your current role at Bergelectric?
Janet Garcia (JG): I’m an Executive Assistant at Bergelectric, supporting our leadership team and coordinating various company events, initiatives, and community partnerships. My role allows me to collaborate across departments and help ensure that projects and company events run smoothly from start to finish.
What does CHOC’s mission to “Nurture, Advance, and Protect the Health and Well-Being of Children” mean to you personally?
JG: CHOC’s mission hits close to home for me as a parent. Knowing there’s a place that provides world-class care, comfort, and hope for children and their families means everything. Supporting CHOC reminds me that every effort, big or small, can help a child heal, grow, and dream again.
How do you see Bergelectric’s culture of giving reflected in your team’s support of CHOC? Do you have any favorite CHOC moments that you can share?
JG: Bergelectric has an incredible culture of giving. Our teams are always ready to step up and make a difference, whether it’s through volunteering, fundraising, or simply showing up with heart.
Our annual Cornhole Fundraising Tournament is a great example. It’s more than a competition—it’s a celebration of teamwork and generosity.
My favorite moments are seeing everyone come together, laughing and connecting, all while raising money for our Foundation and our selected local charities. CHOC has been the selected Los Angeles/Orange County charity of choice for several years, and from our leadership down, we have enjoyed our partnership with CHOC toward helping patients and their families. It’s a powerful reminder of what community can accomplish.

What do you hope Bergelectric’s support makes possible for CHOC patients and families?
JG: I hope our contributions help ease the stress for families and give kids the care and comfort they deserve. Whether it’s funding research, supporting pediatric healthcare programs and services, or improving hospital spaces, I want families to feel supported so they can focus on what matters most—their child’s recovery.

Why do you think it’s important for corporations like yours to get involved with their communities through philanthropy?
JG: Corporate giving builds stronger communities and deeper connections. When companies invest in causes that matter, it inspires employees, strengthens relationships, and creates lasting change.
