Meet Lois, CHOC’s first resident dog and a new badge-carrying staff member of the Cherese Mari Laulhere Child Life Department. Supported solely through philanthropy, she is highly trained to be a vital part of therapeutic treatment for young patients and their families.
Through the care of CHOC’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), this story has a beautiful outcome after a pregnant woman suffered COVID-19, and delivered her baby seven weeks early.
Since 2007, Panda Express’ partnership with CHOC has raised more than $2.3 million for the hospital, supported events through catering and volunteers, and provided funds toward PPE during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most recently, Panda Express pledged another $5 million to CHOC.
A cancer diagnosis is isolating for adolescents and young adults. But virtual reality at CHOC is restoring their sense of community.
CHOC’s very own Rayaan Kalhoro has earned top honors as the 2021 IHOP Kid Chef Champion for his submission called, “Caramel Apple à la Mode Pancakes,” which will appear on IHOP menus nationwide from Sept. 13 to Oct. 31, 2021.
