The 23rd Annual CHOC Follies is here! This beloved event brings together Orange County’s talented civic and society leaders to sing, dance and act to raise money for CHOC.
This year’s show “The Great Chocsby!” is an original musical guaranteed to keep you entertained! The CHOC Follies helps to raise awareness for CHOC’s mental health initiative – a full continuum of care for children and families facing mental health challenges.
This year, we want to highlight one of CHOC’s very own! Elyse Shelger joined the RN Acute Care and Critical Care Float Teams at CHOC in July 2019. She came with 7 years of Pediatric Intensive Care experience and a strong passion for both learning and “defending childhood”. Prior to her career as a nurse, she played professional soccer in Norway for 2.5 years following a 4-year collegiate soccer career at Santa Clara University.
In August 2019, she earned her Masters in Nursing Leadership degree. When she is not working, she enjoys teaching fitness classes, practicing jiu jitsu, traveling, and caring for her two pet bunnies (and multiple foster bunnies). On March 27-28, you can catch her performing with the CHOC Follies cast. Though she has never performed in a musical or play before, she was inspired by the wonderful fundraising cause and considers this a “bucket list” experience.
