PROMOTING YOUR FUNDRAISER
You can’t spell fundraising without “fun”! Follow these steps to build your successful fundraiser:
STEP 1: Start your fundraiser. Which type of fundraiser speaks to you? Do you have a milestone around the corner, or do you want to hold an event? Maybe you want to show appreciation to a CHOC care team or want to give meaning to a 5K. Pick something fun that you’ll enjoy!
STEP 2: Donate to your page. Pitching in to your own fundraiser builds momentum and shows others that you are invested in the cause that you are asking them to support.
STEP 3: Share on social media. Spread the word to your followers to extend your reach. People love to help make a positive impact, and sharing your story will raise awareness and make your cause stand out.
STEP 4: Contact family, friends and colleagues. Reach out to your inner circle. Don’t be afraid to ask. Family, friends and colleagues want to support you. Tell your story, share impact, and send news and updates through email, texts and other useful channels. We’ve even prepared a fundraising form letter that you can personalize and send to your supporters.
STEP 5: Acknowledge and thank your supporters. Let them know that you—and CHOC—value them! This can include a personal message to each donor, and/or a shout-out on social media, where others can see their generosity and your gratitude.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Most people share cause-related posts on social media, and they love to help make a positive impact. Here are some quick steps to get you on your way:
STEP 1: Share your message. Tell your story to help engage your audience and make your cause stand out.
STEP 2: Be short and sweet. Use numbers, quotes and fun facts that your friends and family can share with their network.
STEP 3: Mix it up. Don’t just share “ask ” posts — share updates, news about CHOC and other information like photos and videos to bring your campaign to life. An idea: try one “ask” for every four posts.
STEP 4: Give thanks. Show your appreciation by tagging people who have already given, and thank them for their generosity.
STEP 5: Tag or mention CHOC! Add #CHOCRaiseUp and @CHOCFoundation to your social media posts to be part of our larger CHOC fundraising community.
